Jennifer Brandwood of Zenith Intelligent Vehicle Solutions
Michelle Wilkins (L) with Winner Jennifer Brandwood (R)
Following National Receptionist Day in early May 2017, Lucy Walker Recruitment decided to facilitate a “Receptionist of the Year Award” to recognise the Receptionist and the integral role it plays in most, if not all businesses.
Nominations were received over a 3 week period from the West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester region.
After considering multiple entries from across the North, Jennifer was the unanimous choice of the Independent Judging Panel, Denise Oyston and Sharon Newey.
Michelle Wilkins, PA and Facilities Manager, who nominated Jennifer explained,
“Jennifer is at the heart of the business where her customer service skills shine. She makes everyone she speaks to or interacts with feel welcome, including employees, delivery drivers, interview candidates, suppliers and customers. Whilst she adapts her style to suit the situation and individual, Jennifer maintains her personality. Jennifer is very passionate and committed to both the business and her position. She provides exceptional front of house service whilst helping the wider business with any requirements they have, including recently taking on responsibility for a large proportion of the facilities and health and safety tasks. Jennifer is very agile and nothing is ever too much trouble. Jennifer is always eager to learn and help others. Despite her role being very busy and demanding she maintains a very positive, fun yet professional attitude throughout. Jennifer is an absolutely pleasure to work with and a true asset to the company.”
Jennifer, who was presented with her trophy and certificate and will receive vouchers of her choice, has been with her current employer for over 18 years and was clearly thrilled to be the inaugural winner of the Award. Jennifer explained,
“I am extremely proud of winning the Receptionist of the year 2017 award. It is great to be recognised for working hard at a job that I love. Thank you to Michelle Wilkins for nominating me.”
The Runner up is:-
Lisa Riley of Workman FM
Lisa was nominated by Paul Taylor of Creative Space Management who advised
“Lisa acts as receptionist for all the businesses based in the building, which is quite a responsibility. She is incredibly diligent, often staying late to assist occupiers, always arrives early in the morning and is never ill. She is very creative and co-ordinates a number of profile raising activities for the building and great social events to get all the business involved with one another. She has also arranged several charitable events for Women’s Aid, with recent Easter egg and Christmas present collections leading to her being featured in the local press.”
Lisa was presented with her trophy and certificate and will receive vouchers of her choice.

Lucy Walker, MD of Lucy Walker Recruitment, the facilitators of this Award, added
” We are delighted for both Jennifer and Lisa and from the feedback we received from the judges they were clearly the stand-out entries. We do strongly believe that the role of the receptionist has been undervalued by some over the years and we hope by raising the profile and celebrating these achievements it will help to raise the profile of the role for many in the years ahead.”
We would like to thank everyone who nominated and supported this Award.
Rest assured, it will be back again next year.
