Frequently Asked Questions on Temping
How do I obtain timesheets?
You can obtain a blank timesheet by downloading a timesheet from this site or by ringing our Payroll Team on 0113 367 2880.
When does my timesheet need to reach Payroll Services and when will it be paid?
Timesheets need to reach us by Monday at 10.00 am for work completed for the previous week to ensure processing the following Friday.
Bank holidays and other special occasions sometimes affect our payroll timetable. Contact your Consultant for more specific information.
How will I know if my timesheet has been received?
You can ring us to find out whether we have received it. If you don't call us there is always a risk your transmission by phone or letter has not worked and we don't have the information.
How will I receive a payslip?
We send your payslips by post. Please ensure that your consultant has your correct contact details on record.
When will I receive a payslip?
Payslips are posted on Wednesday/Thursday by first class mail
There is no need to contact us to confirm your total payment amount as the payment advice will contain all the details.
How will the payment be made?
Our standard method of payment is by BACS.
What do I do if I have not received a payslip?
Payslips are always sent out 1st class if sent by post. If you have not received them after a few days, please speak to our Payroll Team. A copy of the requested payslip can be posted 1st class to you.
I have a query on my pay, how do I resolve it?

My bank has charged me, what do I do about this?
LWR will refund bank charges incurred as a result of an error on our part. However, this can only be done on presentation of a bank statement detailing the charges and reasonable proof that the charges would not have otherwise been incurred.
My tax appears to be incorrect, what do I do?
If you believe your tax code is incorrect or do not understand the figures, please contact Payroll Services. We will liaise with the Inland Revenue for you if necessary.

Remember to quote your National Insurance number when making any enquiries of the Inland Revenue.
I am leaving, and need a P45, how do I request one?
Please ring us detailing your name, registration number, date of leaving.
Your P45 will then be sent out to your home address, providing all your timesheets up to your leaving date have been processed. Please allow five working days for receipt.
Can I get paid if I am sick?
Yes, we do pay statutory sickness pay if a temp qualifies.
- Qualify criteria working for sickness up to 7 days.
- Payable after the 4th day of sickness. Must produce medical evidence.
- Only payable if average earnings are over £8900 for 2008/2009 tax year.
- Payable at £15.08 a day where applicable.
Can I get paid maternity leave?
Yes, we do pay statutory maternity pay if a temp qualifies.

You qualify if you have been engaged with Lucy Walker Recruitment in continuous service for 26 weeks up to and including the 15th week before expected week of birth.
- You give us 28 days notice.
- Provide evidence of pregnancy.
- Your earnings are not below the current rate at which National Insurance Contributions must be paid. Read more.
How do I know what my tax code is?
Your tax code determines how your income tax deduction is calculated. If we do not receive a P46 or P45 your default tax code will be BR meaning your gross is taxed at 22%.
If you submit a P45 the tax code indicated is what is used.
If you submit a P46 indicating that this is your only job the personal allowance code is used i.e. 543L for 2008 / 2009.
Will I get paid holiday?
All temps accrue holiday entitlement, which will enable you to book and be paid for up to 20 days holiday per year. For more information about your holiday entitlement please read our Payroll Services user guide.
